Laughter is Important. Especially in the Workplace.
There have been low times in my life, as I'm sure there have been with yours.
Times when faith ebbed.
Times when depression was real.
Times when I felt very much alone (even if I wasn't alone).
Times when I've felt like a failure.
Times when I actually failed.
We've all been there. It's a part of life.
But in the middle of all those times, I can remember moments of hope. Those moments of hope are often centered around laughter.
There is a Biblical proverb that says "a Joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." (Proverbs 17:22)
Science has proven this to be true. In fact, some studies have determined that laughter is heart healthy, lowers blood sugar, and staves off mental illness. Laughter releases endorphins and forms social bonds. People who laugh together get along better.
This means something for the workplace.
A workplace that is not fun is not healthy.
Consider laughing together at work more often.
It will create health at multiple levels.
But laughter - especially in conjunction with others - will brighten dark times in transformational ways.
