The Public Domain
Writing. Speaking. Conversation.
These are ways (among many ways) to communicate.
The word “communicate” comes from the Latin: communicationem It means to make common. Public. To share. Accessible.
Give the people what they want
For some reason, inaccessibility is viewed by many as a sign of intellectual prowess and virility. The opposite is actually true. The smartest people that I know are able to make the complicated simple. This is a true sign of intellectual ability
Communication (making information accessible, public, and common) is a critical skill for leaders.
Know your stuff well enough to be clear.
Practice being concise.
Always be generous with information.
For every speech, email, book, or blog post you’ll need to answer these two questions:
- What is it that I actually want to say?
- How do I make this common?
You can add necessary complexity in the edit (but proceed with caution).
