Current musings, whatever they may be.

On Becoming a Dancer (or Becoming Whatever You Want To Become)

If you wish to become a fit person, start doing the things fit people do.

The mindset of the fit person is to get up and go to the gym. Move. Eat healthy foods and smaller portions. No matter how you feel.

If you wish to become a dancer, you must begin doing the things that dancers do.

The mindset of a dancer is early morning movement. The exploration of the limits of the human body. A regimen of stretching and practicing the basics of dance and your particular dance genre, no matter how you feel.

It’s hard work. But that’s what dancers do. Do that and you will be a dancer.

If you wish to be a writer, you must begin doing the things that writers do.

The mindset of a writer is early morning writing. Put words on the page. Read, curate concepts and ideas, and relentlessly edit. Writing is about sharing ideas, concepts, and stories in ways that inform or entertain or encourage. No matter how you feel.

Now fill in the blank.

If you want to be a __, you must do the things that __ does which is ___ .

That works for pretty much anything.

Human behavior changes when we act.

Attitudes always follow action.
